Puppy Contract · DN Rottweilers · 2026

The Rottweiler puppy contract.

Every puppy is placed under this signed agreement. We post it publicly so you can read every term before you call — not discover it at pickup.

Read before you reserve

A good contract protects the buyer first. It says what happens if a puppy gets sick, what happens if life changes and you can't keep the dog, and what we owe you the day something goes wrong.

Below is the working version of the agreement every DN Rottweilers puppy goes home under. The signed copy adds your details and the individual puppy's identification. Nothing here is buried in fine print, and nothing changes after you've paid.

  • 01

    Parties & the puppy.

This agreement is between DN Rottweilers ("Breeder"), of Rowlett, Texas, and the purchaser named on the signature page ("Buyer"). It covers one AKC-registered Rottweiler puppy identified by litter, date of birth, sex, color, and microchip number on the signed copy.

The puppy is sold in good health. A licensed veterinarian examines the litter before any puppy goes home, and the Buyer receives the vaccination and deworming record at pickup.

  • 02

    Price, deposit & balance.

Puppies start at $3,500 for a companion placement (no papers) or $4,000 with full AKC registration and breeding rights. The price for the specific puppy is written on the signed copy.

A non-refundable $500 deposit reserves a puppy and holds the Buyer’s place in the selection order. The deposit is applied to the purchase price. The only exception: if the Breeder cannot deliver a puppy that meets this contract, the deposit is refunded in full or moved to a future litter — the Buyer’s choice.

The remaining balance is due in full before or at pickup, by cash, cashier’s check, or wire transfer. The puppy does not leave until the balance clears.

  • 03

    Two-year genetic health guarantee.

The Breeder guarantees the puppy against life-threatening congenital or hereditary defects for two (2) years from the date of birth. Both parents are OFA-evaluated on hips, elbows, and heart and screened on a current genetic panel (including JLPP) before breeding.

If a licensed veterinarian diagnoses a covered genetic defect within the guarantee period — confirmed by a second veterinarian chosen by the Breeder — the Breeder will replace the puppy with one of equal value from a future litter. The Buyer is not required to return the dog to receive a replacement.

The guarantee does not cover conditions caused by injury, neglect, poor nutrition, overexercise of a growing puppy, parasites, or preventable disease after the puppy leaves our home.

  • 04

    Buyer’s first 72 hours.

The Buyer must have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup. This visit confirms the puppy’s condition and starts the health record on the Buyer’s side.

If that exam finds a serious pre-existing health problem, the Buyer may return the puppy within those 72 hours for a full refund or replacement. After 72 hours, only the two-year genetic guarantee applies.

  • 05

Natural tails — we do not dock.

Every puppy goes home with its natural tail. We do not dock tails — docking is already banned or restricted across much of Europe, including the breed’s countries of origin, and a natural-tail Rottweiler is fully correct under the FCI standard.

We see no reason to remove a healthy tail from a sound dog, and no puppy from this program will have one removed.

  • 06

    Spay / neuter (pet placements).

Puppies placed as companions (the no-papers tier) are sold strictly as pets and must be spayed or neutered on a schedule your veterinarian recommends for a large breed — generally after growth plates close, not before.

Early sterilization that harms a large-breed dog’s development is discouraged; the health guarantee remains intact as long as the timing follows veterinary advice for the breed.

  • 07

    Breeding & registration rights.

Full AKC registration with breeding rights is the $4,000 tier, granted in writing on the signed copy for approved homes. Companion placements ($3,500) go home without papers and are not to be bred.

The Breeder does not use co-ownership to control a placed dog’s future. Any show or stud arrangement for a working prospect is documented separately and never used to coerce the Buyer.

  • 08

Lifetime takeback — no shelter, ever.

If at any point in the dog’s life the Buyer can no longer keep it — for any reason — the dog comes back to the Breeder. No surrender to a shelter or rescue, and no rehoming without the Breeder’s written approval.

The Breeder will always take the dog back. Purchase price is not refunded on a lifetime return, but the dog will never be without a home it can come back to.

  • 09

    Care expectations.

The Buyer agrees to provide quality food, fresh water, shelter, routine veterinary care, vaccinations, and parasite prevention; to keep the dog as a member of the household rather than a chained or isolated outdoor dog; and to license and identify the dog as local law requires.

The microchip is registered to the Buyer at pickup and updated with the Breeder as a secondary contact, which is how the lifetime takeback is honored if the dog is ever lost or surrendered elsewhere.

  • 10

    Pickup & transfer of ownership.

In-person pickup in the Dallas–Fort Worth area is strongly preferred so the Breeder can hand off care instructions directly. Puppies go home between 8 and 10 weeks of age.

Where travel is necessary, a USDA-compliant flight nanny can be arranged at the Buyer’s expense. Risk and ownership transfer to the Buyer once the puppy is collected or handed to the nanny.

From that moment, full ownership, care, control, and responsibility for the dog rest with the Buyer. The Breeder is not responsible for veterinary costs, damages, or the dog’s actions after pickup. The only obligations that survive pickup are the ones written in this contract — the 72-hour exam window, the two-year genetic guarantee, and the lifetime takeback.

  • 11

    Governing law.

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas. It is the entire agreement between the parties and may only be changed in writing signed by both. If any clause is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

This page is provided for transparency and is not itself the executed contract. The binding agreement is the copy signed by both parties at the time of purchase. Our breeding and health practices follow the Verified Breeder Standard.
