The Verified Breeder Standard.
Seven things every breeder in the DN Rottweilers network must do. The bar we hold ourselves to — and the bar we hold any breeder who carries our badge to.
Buying a rottweiler should not feel like a Craigslist transaction. Most of the industry is built on it anyway — backyard listings, broker resale, "rare" color markups, dogs bred without health-tested parents, sold without contracts, with no plan if the placement fails.
We're building a network of breeders who refuse to operate that way. The Verified Breeder Standard is the bar. Seven items. No exceptions. Breeders who meet them get listed under DN's domain with the Verified badge. Breeders who don't, don't.
- 01
Raised in the home.
A guardian is made in the first eight weeks. Puppies are raised inside the breeder's home — daily handling, household sounds, varied surfaces, children and other animals where appropriate. That's how you get a dog that's steady with your family and sure of itself everywhere else. No kennel-only operations. No broker resale. No "shipped from the farm."
- 02
Health-tested parents.
Strength you can prove. Our breeding dogs are health-tested — hips, elbows, heart, and genetic panels including JLPP and DM — and results are published on each dog’s page as testing is completed, not just claimed in conversation. JLPP carriers acceptable only when bred to clear. DM clear required.
- 03
Documented pedigree.
Three-generation pedigree on file with verifiable registration numbers (AKC, UKC, FCI, ADRK). No "rare-color" markup. No "King," "Giant," or other breed-distorting marketing language. If we can't trace it, it doesn't belong on the program.
- 04
Written placement contract.
Every puppy placed under a signed contract that includes a written two-year health guarantee, clear limitations of liability, and a binding takeback clause. We provide a vetted template to network breeders. Verbal handshake deals fail buyers when something goes wrong.
- 05
Lifetime takeback.
If the placement ever doesn't work out — divorce, hardship, behavior, anything — the dog comes back to the breeder. No questions, no fees, no surrender to a shelter. The dog is the breeder's responsibility for life. This is non-negotiable.
- 06
No co-ownership traps.
The buyer takes full ownership at pickup. No "co-owned" arrangements that restrict the dog's future, require breeding returns, mandate stud rights, or hold a leash over the placement. Specific stud or show contracts for working dogs are permitted but documented separately and never used to coerce.
- 07
Transparency audit.
Every network breeder agrees to a one-time interview with DN before listing, plus an annual review. Health records, contract templates, and current litter outcomes are open to inspection. Anyone in the DN network can ask any other DN-network breeder for these documents and receive them.
